Naruto Manga 481 Chapter Review – DANZOU’s Death

It’s confirmed KARIN IS DEAD.  How can I tell?  Well, I didn’t see her body or any remains of her body in the last page of the chapter, all we saw were the corpse of Danzou while Madara and Sasuke stands above him.

On the first page of the chapter, we see six of the elder ninjas of Konoha during the time of their youth, all striving to prove themselves as worthy ninjas of Konohagure.

We go back to the last scene where Sasuke pierced the Raiton charged spear right into Karin and Danzou.  There were speculations that Karin have survived the attack, but I guess this chapter have proved how Sasuke has really welcomed the darkness and Karin was the first of his real comrades (since his Konoha batch ninjas) that he took for granded and even sacrificed for his victory or we may say – his first true revenge over the death of Uchiha clan and his beloved brother Itachi.

Karin was completely in shock of the events that were truly unbelievable, for a girl who worshipped Sasuke, offered her whole body to regain his chakra back and even loved and shared his vision of revenge as part of the Hawk team.  At the very end, Karin realized that her loyalty did not matter to Sasuke, he only relied on the ninjas that would help him in his revenge.  How will Juugo and Suigetsu compare, only time will tell. 

At the end, what matters to Sasuke is the role of each of Hawk’s member on helping him on his revenge, in this case, Karin proved to be a liability by being too weak to become a hostage.  If she is a hostage, the best use of her is to distract Danzou and make his attack, and this was exactly what happened.

Madara knew that Sasuke’s last attack was the end of Danzou, so he comfortably joined in the stage and was eager to take Shisui’s eyes from Danzou’s current right eye.  In his last moments and helplessly breathing his last air, he remembers the time that he was a young ninja…let the flashbacks begin.

So the 6 young ninjas then were all together in the woods, these was a time that the great ninja war was still imminent in the surroundings.  Danzou , Sarutobi and the other ninjas were lead by Nidaime, the 2nd Hokage and brother of the First.

The Konoha team was being surrounded by Kumogakure’s Master bounty hunters, and their only mission was to hunt and kill.  These hunters were closing in and with a number of 20 ninjas against 7, this was indeed a serious situation.  They decided that a Decoy will potentially lure their attackers and let the others escape back to the village. 

Deep inside, Danzou wanted to volunteer for this very important self sacrifice, he fought with his decision and feelings inside, though his spirit was strong, he could not let himself voice out his intentions while his whole body was trembling with fear.  He consciously tries to think what Sarutobi’s thoughts were but before he could figure it out – Sarutobi spoke confidently to be the Decoy.

The young Danzou though surprised was easily relieved for Sarutobi’s words, he fully realized that he is weak and felt embarrassed.  Sarutobi asked Danzou to take of the others but this angered Danzou.  It seemed that the two had rivalry in strength and achievements even since they were young and this occasion was no different. 

The Second Hokage then spoked and announced that HE will be the decoy and entrusted the others, the young flames of Konoha, to continue to survive and protect the village.  He said to his young ninjas that there is still a lot of things in store for them and it they should not be hasty while they are young.  “One day, you’re time will come, Just stay alive till then.”

The second hokage then called Sarutobi and told him to protect those who have FAITH in you and who LOVE the VILLAGE.  His new role that the Hokage declared is to TRAIN up those whom he can entrust the NEXT GENERATION of Konoha.  The next words, surprised everyone especially Danzou , the 2^nd Hokage declared Sarutobi Hiruzen the tomorrow (from the time that Nidaime might be dead) he will be the THIRD HOKAGE.  Even Sarutobi was surprised but he calmly respected and accepted the title and responsibility.   From this time, Sarutobi was now too far for Danzou to reach, though he could not be Hokage – he fought his own ways to protect the village and serve its citizens.

Danzou fighting Sasuke was his way of serving Konoha and for the sake of the Ninja world, he casted his last technique – Shishou Fuuin Jutsu (reverse four symbols Seal) and the four symbols hidden in his chest started to blow and cast big force that Sasuke and Madara has to step back.

Danzou’s last thoughts was still of Sarutobi, his friend, comrade and probably an idol that he hardly admitted to admire.  He died never catching up to do greater things than Sarutobi not even to become the next Hokage.

In the outer parts of the forest, we find Sakura’s pack, their intention was to find Sasuke, stop him or kill him.  Kiba spotted Sasuke’s scent and told Sakura, with her foolish judgement, she decided to cast a smoke to let the other sleep while she travels alone and fight Sasuke from thereon.  Sai was there to stop  her move, and this angered Sakura. 

With Kakashi’s orders, Sai did not let anyone pass to continue fight Sasuke or Madara since they don’t have any match for these two forces.  Sakura made her attempt to hit Sai but my prediction that the one they are currently talking to is a clone as we see in the other page the both Sai and Kakashi were on their way to join Sakura and team

Lastly, we see the big almost perfect half circle of a crater that Danzou’s last technique has created and as I said earlier, no sign of any remains of Karin.  Sasuke and Madara stood proudly at the sight of their defeated enemy.  Sasuke declared – We HEAD Next for Konoha.

We know Sakura is one kilometer away from Sasuke’s location and Kakashi and Sai is closing in.  We have no idea where Naruto is, for sure not training but still contemplating on how to meet Sasuke face to face as he is now fully aware that the both of them are fated to meet, fight and pursue the never ending fight between the First and Uchiha Madara.

Prediction for 482, a less action packed chapter which I believe would have a lot of conversation from all parties.  A time for Kishi to rest his hands with the past 8 chapters of massive fight scenes and just go back to the old time talk clouds.
