Her effort was 3kg heavier that her Asian record which logged in the World Masters topurnament in Palm Springs, California two years ago.
The country’s other gold medal was produced by Rosemarie Vasquez who triumphed in the 60kg class in the event that attracted 10 countries.
He raised 102.5kg to stun the fancied bets from the host country – Antoinette Kempers and Angela Simmons, who settled for silver and bronze, respectively.
The Filipinos’ campaign was sanctioned and supported
by the Powerlifting Association of the Philippines,
Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), Philippine Sports
Commission (PSC), Dewfoam and Zest Power gym.
The RP delegation now takes a breather as it looks forward to another fruitful bid in the Asian
